July 8th is Massachusetts Emancipation Day, or Quock Walker Day, which celebrates the 1783 cases that lead to the end of legal slavery in the Commonwealth. July is Disability Pride Month, a time to recognize the achievements, struggles, and strengths of the disability community. It is celebrated in July to honor the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), but even with these legal protections, disabled people face discrimination and unnecessary barriers to opportunity every day.
