    Today, we wrap up CommUnity Week, our annual global celebration of our #OneNewell team. This event features five days of programming that highlights our commitment to our employees and the communities where we operate. In support of this year’s theme, Creativity & Innovation, local teams around the world participated in activities like arts and crafts with recycled materials and Sharpie and Paper Mate products in Hammersmith, UK, floral bouquet arranging in Kalamazoo, MI, a hiking challenge in Guangzhou, China, a Newell product giveaway in Manchester, TN and a collaborative values canvas drawn using Sharpie® Creative Markers in Melbourne, Australia. Teams also served their communities through charitable drives and volunteering opportunities, like a book drive in McMinnville, TN, that focused on books about creativity, assembling creative snack kits for Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis, MN, and creativity bags for children undergoing cancer treatment in Gastonia, NC and an art activity with seniors in Bristol, UK. We are grateful for our employees’ enthusiasm and participation throughout CommUnity Week. Thank you for celebrating with us! 💙

    We’re halfway through CommUnity Week, our annual global event that celebrates the unity of our #OneNewell team and highlights our commitment to our communities. This year’s theme, Creativity & Innovation, is supported by events aiming to unlock the power of creativity and strengthen our community and those in which we operate. On Monday, employees were invited to participate in a centering “Creativity through Mindfulness” yoga and meditation session. On Tuesday, our Consumer & Shopper Insights team hosted a discussion about cultivating curiosity and developing habits that nurture creativity. Teams around the world also celebrated with local activations like decorating ceramics with Sharpie® creative markers in Spain, spending time with therapy dogs in Atlanta, GA, volunteering at a food bank near our Bristol, U.K. location, and more.     Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee is leading the community in the fight to end hunger, so it was no surprise that our Maryville, TN employees selected the organization to receive their second Local Impact Grant in 2023. The Newell Brands Charitable Foundation grant supported the Food for Kids (FFK) program, which serves nearly 14,000 students at 292 public schools in their 18-county service area. Through FFK, the organization discreetly provides bags of food on Fridays to children who have an unstable food source at home over the weekends. Teachers have witnessed a positive change in the students who participate in FFK. One teacher said, “A second grader jumped two levels in reading after starting the program. She could sit and concentrate on sounding out words. Her parents and I think this program profoundly influenced this achievement. It’s like you could see her switch from survival mode to thriving.” In addition to the monetary support in 2020 and 2023, our employees have volunteered to pack bags, participate in food drives and sort donations for the FFK program. The Newell Brands Charitable Foundation is proud to support Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee and its work to remove the barrier to nutritious food so children can focus on what is most important—learning.
