Aaron Bayne, MD, is our next award winner. Dr. Bayne is unique because he won two awards – Excellence in Teaching and Be of Service. Dr. Bayne volunteered 548 hours in 2023! He greatly cares about the development and learning of residents. He is a phenomenal teacher and takes personal time to develop the residents he works with. Thank you for all you do for the future of medicine, Dr. Bayne!  

Another of our Distinguished Physician Award winners is Soames Boyle, MD. Dr. Boyle is an oncologist, caring for some of our patients who need it the most. She has a unique ability to connect with her patients – making them feel safe, seen, and heard. Even in the face of very difficult diagnoses, her patients often sing her praises. As a colleague, she has dedicated countless hours as a director on the NWP Board, and she always listens and hears feedback when given.

Last month at America's Physician Groups' annual meeting, NWP’s Medical Director of External Affairs, Government Relations, and Community Health, Colin Cave, MD, moderated APG’s first ever panel on environmental sustainability. Dr. Cave, along with health care leaders Gregg Furie, MD, Bruce Bekkar, M.D., Kathy Gerwig, MD, and Lisa Patel, MD, MESc, discussed the importance of addressing climate change in the health care industry. They noted the direct correlation between high value care and reducing carbon emissions, the environmental considerations regarding medical supply chains, and how health care professionals can have influence on both internal and external environmental policies. Thank you, Dr. Cave, for your important work to reduce the negative health effects that climate change is having our patients and in our communities. #ClimateChange #ClimateCrisis 

Matthew Worden is our next Sidney Award winner. Matt is a senior practice director who serves almost 20 departments, across a wide swath of care delivery -- within ambulatory care, in the hospital, and in the operating and procedure rooms. He exemplifies steadfast commitment to his departments and has exceptional organizational skills. His work in specialty care to improve access has been integral. We would not be where we are today without him! Thank you for all you do, Matt, and congratulations!
