SAVE THE DATE! Join us July 23rd for a #webinar hosted by the #NTSB and the National Distracted Driving Coalition (USNDDC), “Evaluating the Effectiveness of Distracted Driving Laws." Several U.S. jurisdictions have passed laws prohibiting handheld phone use, texting, and other forms of distraction in the past decade. In some jurisdictions, the primary focus has been on young drivers or other special populations, whereas in others these bans have been applicable to drivers of all ages. Such laws must be evaluated to ensure they are positively affecting driver behavior and reducing crashes, deaths, and injuries. So, how effective are the laws that have been passed to date? How consistently are they enforced, and how enforceable are they? What are the gaps in gathering data? Register now to learn more: https://lnkd.in/g7Hpub52 Panelists include: Mike Graham, Member, NTSB Jennifer Smith, President and CEO, Stopdistractions.org Robyn Robertson, President & CEO, Traffic Injury Research Foundation David Zuby, Executive Vice President and Chief Research Officer, IIHS Greg Fitch, Head of Safety and UX Research, Android Auto at Google

Last week, NTSB Member Graham addressed attendees at the RTX Safety Summit on the industry-wide topic “Hiring for Success, Not Tragedy,” using Atlas Air, Flight 3591 as a case study. He emphasized the critical role of strong hiring practices in ensuring operational safety across the industry. In his presentation, he stated, “It’s important for the industry to regularly review its hiring practices to ensure thorough processes and robust minimum standards are in place. Hiring decisions made every day impact an operation’s margin of safety.” Graham’s message serves as a reminder for all organizations to continually evaluate and improve their hiring processes to maintain high safety standards and protect both employees and the public. This guidance is crucial for the entire industry, highlighting the need for robust and consistent safety practices. #HiringForSuccess #NTSB #IndustryStandards #AviationSafety #HiringBestPractices
