We're thrilled to share the latest update on our ongoing efforts at the One North site, thanks to the EPA Brownfields Cleanup grant. Recently, we completed crucial clearing work as part of the #6 Fuel Oil Tank Farm & Rail Corridor project, setting the stage for transformative developments ahead. Check out the before and after photos! This summer marks a significant milestone as we prepare to clean out the two massive 2,300,000-gallon tanks. Our comprehensive plans include removing the final remnants of #6 fuel oil, demolishing outdated piping connected to the steam plant, and conducting assessments for potential future uses like biofuel storage. These steps are pivotal in our commitment to sustainable redevelopment.

We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the roof replacement for the entire Great Northern Paper Engineering & Research Building complex and Pilot Plant. With this recent project, all 50,000 square feet of the complex now boasts a brand-new roof and has been thoroughly abated of any hazardous materials. This vital work was made possible through the generous support of two EPA Brownfields Cleanup Grants of $500,000 each along with two EPA Brownfields Assessment grants. Additionally, we received crucial funding from Maine DECD's Brownfield Revolving Loan Fund, Maine DEP's 128-A Brownfield Cleanup program and Eastern Maine Development Corporation. Be sure to check out the incredible before and after photos below showcasing the transformation!

"Plans have advanced to install a first-in-the-world heating and power system at the One North industrial campus being developed in Millinocket. Fueled by the wood waste of Maine forests and cycled through a “super-critical carbon dioxide” energy conversion turbine, the system is touted as an energy-saving breakthrough. Peregrine Turbine Technologies in Wiscasset said it is collaborating on the project with KMW Energy Group, an Ontario manufacturer of biomass combustion systems, and Our Katahdin, the nonprofit that owns One North, which is a former Great Northern Paper mill site." https://lnkd.in/eHFYMrKD

From Millinocket, Maine to Chilean Patagonia, in the Municipality of Chile Chico! Great work, ORPC!
ORPC’s RivGen device has arrived in Chilean Patagonia, in the Municipality of Chile Chico, after completing a 6,000-mile journey from MILLINOCKET FABRICATION & MACHINE, LLC in rural northern Maine. The arrival and subsequent assembly of the device near the installation area mark a significant milestone toward ORPC’s first deployment of a #marineenergy system in South America. This was achieved thanks to the collaborative efforts of our operations and logistics teams along with our in-country team at ORPC Chile, local area contractors and services providers, and shipping transport partner Rhenus Logistics. ORPC is working with the Municipality of Chile Chico on deployment of the device in the headwaters of the Rio Baker. #Patagonia
