Radically Pragmatic. We seek to advance progressive ideas that promote American innovation and opportunity.
About us
PPI's mission is to define and promote a new progressive politics for America in the 21st century. Through its research, policies, and perspectives, the Institute is fashioning a new governing philosophy and an agenda for public innovation geared to the Information Age. PPI's mission arises from the belief that America is ill-served by an obsolete left-right debate that is out of step with the powerful forces re-shaping our society and economy. The Institute advocates a philosophy that adapts the progressive tradition in American politics to the realities of the Information Age and points to a "third way" beyond the liberal impulse to defend the bureaucratic status quo and the conservative bid to simply dismantle government. The Institute envisions government as society's servant, not its master -- as a catalyst for a broader civic enterprise controlled by and responsive to the needs of citizens and the communities where they live and work. The Institute's work rests on three ideals: equal opportunity, mutual responsibility, and self-governing citizens and communities. Building on these cornerstone principles, our work advances five key strategies to equip Americans to confront the challenges of the Information Age: * Restoring the American Dream by accelerating economic growth, expanding opportunity, and enhancing security. * Reconstructing our social order by strengthening families, attacking crime, and empowering the urban poor. * Renewing our democracy by challenging the special interests and returning power to citizens and local institutions. * Defending our common civic ground by affirming the spirit of tolerance and the shared principles that unite us as Americans. * Confronting global disorder by building enduring new international structures of economic and political freedom.

From Lone Wolf to Team Captain: Why Collaboration Wins 🤝 Forget the lone wolf leader! That's an outdated image. At a recent fireside chat held at the Progressive Policy Institute, I explored a different reality with Washington D.C. professionals and policymakers: successful leadership, especially during change and disruption, hinges on collaboration. Huge thanks to Sarah Paden for facilitating the event and Alyssa Brown-Ruiz for inviting me to speak. Our conversation spanned many topics from my book, The TRIUMPH Framework: 7 Steps to Leading Organizational Transformation. One of the key takeaway highlighted: Leadership is a Team Sport 🏅 The myth of the lone wolf leader is simply untrue. Successful leadership, especially during change, requires collaboration. Collaboration means creating alliances with peers, management, customers, and employees. This core concept in The TRIUMPH Framework emphasizes building strong teams that leverage diverse perspectives and foster a sense of inclusion, which is crucial for effective leadership and driving organizational transformation. It was fantastic to meet everyone who braved the traffic! Thank you for attending and participating despite the road closures. 🚗 _______________ ➡️ About Me: I'm Talila Millman a management advisor, keynote speaker, and executive coach. I help CEOs and C-suites create a growth strategy, increase profitability, optimize product portfolios, and create an operating system for excellence. 📘 Get My Book: "The TRIUMPH Framework: 7 Steps to Leading Organizational Transformation" launched as the Top New Release on Organizational Change 🎤 Invite me to Speak at your Event about Leadership, Change Leadership, Innovation, and AI Strategy

PPI is proud to lead a letter today calling on the United States Senate Committee on Finance to protect patients and seniors against high hospital prices and dishonest billing. Patients shouldn’t have to pay more for health care based on who owns the building. “Ending harmful billing practices like the policies suggested in the SITE Act is crucial in reducing the financial strain that comes from irrationally high medical costs,” said Erin D., PPI’s Director of Health Care Policy. “It is critical that the Senate Finance Committee move forward with this important piece of legislation.” Read the full letter:

Sharing our latest piece in ProMarket, with my PPI colleague Jason Gold, on the big policy tensions embedded in the NCAA settlements. Remaking the U.S. model of college sports requires a careful and comprehensive policy approach, driven by legislation.
New: Diana Moss and Jason Gold (Progressive Policy Institute) write that the major private antitrust lawsuit involving how the NCAA governs compensation for college student athletes overreaches by remaking the model of college sports in the United States. https://lnkd.in/efDX7Vpm

A 4th of July question: If a foreign power invaded the U.S., what monuments would you want the military to protect because they help define the essence of America? The Statue of Liberty? The Lincoln Memorial? I take on these questions and more in a new piece today in The Liberal Patriot. This essay is part of a larger project I'm engaged with at the Progressive Policy Institute on strengthening American identity and liberal democracy. https://lnkd.in/eWEwWiFb
