Solving for Circularity
About us
At The Recycling Partnership, we are solving for circularity. As a mission-driven NGO, we are committed to advancing a circular economy by building a better recycling system. We mobilize people, data, and solutions across the value chain to reduce waste and our impact on the environment while also unlocking economic benefits. We work on the ground with thousands of communities to transform underperforming recycling programs; we partner with companies to achieve packaging circularity, increase access to recycled materials, and meet sustainability commitments; and we work with government to develop policy solutions to address the systemic needs of our residential recycling system and advance a circular economy. We foster public-private partnerships and drive positive change at every step of the recycling and circularity process. Since 2014, we have diverted 1 billion pounds of new recyclables from landfills, avoided more than 948,000 metric tons of greenhouse gases, and driven significant reductions in targeted contamination rates. Recycling in Michigan has reached new heights according to Grand Rapids Magazine, with over 620,000 tons of residential recycled materials reported for fiscal year 2022. The City of Grand Rapids is taking it further with a high-tech curbside recycling program in collaboration with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy, The Recycling Partnership, and Prairie Robotics. This innovative six-month pilot project uses advanced technology on recycling trucks to identify contaminants like plastic bags and yard waste, providing residents with real-time feedback on proper recycling practices. The New York Times Climate article highlights the systemic challenges of recycling and underscores the importance of doing it right. While recycling can greatly benefit the environment by reducing greenhouse gases and conserving resources, incorrect recycling can negate these benefits. By following local guidelines and reducing contamination, we can improve recycling rates and make a real difference. As The Partnership's Chief System Optimization, Cody Marshall, notes, technological advancements and better regulations can further enhance our recycling systems. Let's work together to protect our natural resources and build a better recycling system. Read more at: https://nyti.ms/3xAjBk2 #TheRecyclingPartnership

“Eureka Recycling’s achievement of the Glass Recycling Coalition’s gold certification is yet another example of its continued leadership in recycling. Through its smart, innovative investments in glass cleaning equipment, Eureka demonstrates that keeping glass in curbside is highly feasible and can improve the circularity of the material. We congratulate Eureka on its certification and hope other MRFs follow their great example." - Scott Mouw, The Recycling Partnership Senior Advisor of Strategy and Research Read more at https://bit.ly/4c6JDdh #TheRecyclingPartnership

Today The Recycling Partnership’s offices are closed in honor of Juneteenth. Also known as Emancipation Day or Freedom Day, this holiday commemorates June 19, 1865 when Union General Gordon Granger arrived with Federal troops in Galveston to announce that the Civil War had ended and all enslaved Black people in Texas were free. In the ongoing fight for Black justice in America, Juneteenth symbolizes liberation — and how far we still have to go. We hope you will consider today’s historical relevance, and what must be done to achieve true equity. #Juneteenth #EmancipationDay #FreedomDay #DEIB
