Summerville Police Department is proud to be hosting the 45th annual SCALE competition. SCALE is the South Carolina Association of Law Enforcement Explorers (SCALE). This program is for teenagers to see what we do in law enforcement. Many Explorers go on to have careers in law enforcement. There are two competitions in the state every year, a week-long summer SCALE competition and a weekend-long winter one. This year, we at Summerville Police Department are hosting summer SCALE. We have 14 teams from across three states competing. The teams compete in different scenarios such as active shooter, building entry, firearms, officer down, traffic stop, etc. We will be doing various scenarios around town this week! If you see a significant police presence in different areas around town, it is not necessarily something to be alarmed about!
