Washington Trust is proud to announce a $3,000 grant award to Partners in Diversity (PiD) for 2024! We celebrate the important role and work that PiD is fulfilling in expanding and introducing opportunities for underrepresented populations in the workforce communities of Oregon and Southwest Washington. This donation will support the organization’s offerings in career development opportunities and connections for minority college students through internships and resident sponsor programs. A portion of this contribution will also provide scholarships to cover the registration costs of low-income students and job seekers attending educational programs supported by PiD. We look forward to further success for the organization and its operations throughout the year!

“Downtown is the heart of the city, it’s where we want to be.” - Peter Stanton, Executive Chairman of Washington Trust Bank, reflects with KXLY TV on our continued investment in downtown Spokane. Our first tower opened in 1974 to coincide with Expo ’74 and we recently rebranded our second downtown tower just a block away. Washington Trust now employs more than 550 across our downtown campus. The impact of Expo ’74 endures today, and Washington Trust is proud to continue its legacy with the pivotal event.

Last week Downtown Spokane Partnership hosted their annual State of Downtown & Awards Breakfast. DSP and the downtown business community help make our downtown core a thriving, dynamic place and are also making strides on some of our toughest challenges. We’re proud to support this work and were honored to pass on the Legacy Award to this year’s winner, Nordstrom Spokane. Congratulations!

We are thrilled to announce that Washington Trust Bank has donated $5,000 to SEATTLE NATIVITY SCHOOL to fund scholarships for families living below the poverty line. Seattle Nativity School is a Catholic, Jesuit-endorsed STEM middle school committed to breaking the cycle of poverty through education that nourishes souls and ignites leaders for love and service. A Seattle Nativity School 8th grader and council leader, who will be attending Seattle Preparatory School this fall, provided John Borland and Eleanor Rasmussen a brief tour before they met with Fr. McDougall, President. “We are grateful for such a generous gift from Washington Trust Bank and the opportunities they have provided to learn more about Community Reinvestment Act grants. Thank you for welcoming Seattle Nativity School into the Washington Trust community!” – Judy Shafer, Director of Development, Seattle Nativity School. #CommunityImpact #SeattleNativitySchool #STEMEducation

Despite a slight rise in unemployment, the region's resilience is supported by strong construction activity and population growth, fueled by relocations from larger cities. Scranton emphasizes the importance of proactive planning in housing and infrastructure to sustain this growth. The bifurcated economy remains a concern, with inflation impacting lower-wage earners more significantly.
