“I have product and strategy responsibilities within Verizon Digital Media Services, a new start-up at Verizon Communications that has contracted Deloitte consulting services to support the development of this new business. Lauren directly supported Unicast Services as the subject matter expert (SME) and thread owner for Advertising Services, a product line within Unicast Services expected to make tens of millions of dollars annually within the next eighteen months. I am the owner of the documentation and deliverables supported and supplied by Lauren and her counterparts and can’t express my gratitude enough for Lauren’s outstanding work and output, making the transition seamless and timely while we stayed on our extremely aggressive development schedule. Lauren is incredibly creative, astute, assertive (when needed), friendly, and highly professional. I am fortunate that I was able to work with her, and learn from her, and I hope I can do so again one day. Lauren had to wear quite a few hats throughout our group, lending her expertise to a variety of initiatives and projects, making several tough decisions along the way. Lauren continually demonstrated strong team skills, thorough analysis and careful insight, as well as tenacity combined with excellent communication skills. Lauren’s strong suits were flexibility (as this start-up is anything but stable), willingness to accept responsibility and accountability (whether she volunteered for it or it was thrust upon her), and her energy and passion (which especially helped during all those late nights and long weekends). In addition to her ability to lead efforts across the company, which comprises of hundreds of groups and over 120,000 employees – a difficult maze to navigate – Lauren excelled at securing resources through her strong interpersonal skills. This start-up within Verizon has hundreds of dotted-line resources, meaning other groups have day-jobs to attend to and cannot always give 100% to our development, but Lauren’s level of commitment and ability to inspire and motivate allowed us to meet major milestones on time and effectively. Lauren was tasked with several things “above her pay-grade” and she took them head on with unbridled enthusiasm and passion, working late nights and going the extra mile to excel at the tasks given to her. We really appreciated her stepping up and filling much larger shoes than normally expected. A specific example of this would be related to her work in the Advertising thread where the manager rolled-off the project and Lauren quickly assumed the reins, coordinating cross-functional meetings and leading discussions and driving decisions at the executive level. Lauren, I apologize for all the late nights and long weekends we made you work, but we are eternally grateful!”
