WestConn is a Division III school and a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The football program is a member of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Association (MASCAC), Women’s Golf plays independently, while the other 19 intercollegiate athletic programs are members of the Little East Conference. Position Summary: Assists in all phases of equipment room management for an athletic program consisting of multiple varsity and junior varsity sports. This position also includes assisting in game day management. Will supervises student employees. Duties include:

  • Assists in purchasing equipment and supplies for all individual athletic teams, while keeping a digital inventory system for athletic equipment.
  • Maintains and repairs athletic equipment. Assists in arranging for reconditioning of equipment.
  • Assists in ensuring that all equipment purchases and donations meet commonly accepted standards within the Connecticut State Colleges & Universities (CSCU) guidelines and for the quality, health, and safety of athletes.
  • Assists in monitoring and assigning locker rooms for home and visiting student-athletes and athletic staff. Greets and escorts visiting teams and officials for all sports to their assigned rooms while showing them training facilities and fields/court.
  • Assists in fittings of all protective equipment worn by athletes.
  • May instruct student staff members on all aspects of the equipment room.
  • Assists in all in-house laundry operations for athletic needs as well as University needs.
  • Assists in bid specifications for athletic equipment purchases and works cooperatively with the Administrative Services department to coordinate equipment purchases.
  • Assists the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics in preparing the annual equipment budget for all Intercollegiate Athletics.
  • Assists with game management, which includes set up, running of, and break down of scheduled events.
  • Schedule all equipment room personnel.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree is required; Two (2) years’ experience in maintaining equipment; Strong interpersonal, communication & organizational skills; Must be willing to work weekends and early and/or late hours and holidays. Experience with Microsoft 365; Multi-lingual or bi-lingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Salary & Benefits: The hiring salary range is $57,552 - $78,545 and is commensurate upon candidates' experience. WCSU offers a comprehensive benefits package.
