Role Overview:

We’re seeking an exceptional Estimating Manager to manage the Estimating team supporting ADU and home-building projects throughout California and our next growth state. You will also have the opportunity to deliver long-term impact to the business by structuring our systems, working with our executive team, and shaping our culture.


This is a full-time, remote role that reports into the VP of Operations. We will only accept candidates based in California, Colorado, or Texas.


What You'll Do:

  • Manage a team that prepares and estimates budget costs for Villa’s prefabricated D2C, B2B, and infill construction sites
  • Research and review construction and design documents and analyze specifications to determine estimated costs
  • Critically analyze bid documents and understand risk and opportunities
  • Constantly monitor the team’s progress and performance to ensure a quality product is delivered within the service level agreements
  • Write up and present budgets, reports, and project plans
  • Collaborate with Preconstruction & Vendor Management teams to continuously improve pricing and optimize estimate accuracy
  • Work closely with the Sales team to meet sales goals and make strategy adjustments
  • Maintain, update, and improve estimating tooling, cost database & SOPs
  • Establish pricing for new product lines and product-driven changes
  • Evaluate new project sites for feasibility, pinpoint potential challenges, and present project-specific solutions
  • Create cost estimates for change orders
  • Navigate and understand building codes
  • Stays up to date with safety codes and improvements in construction
  • Manage budget for team and hold the organization accountable for hitting goals that affect Villa’s financials
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure accurate KPI and metrics reporting and results
  • Resolve complex construction project-related escalations and disputes
  • Develop and implement internal policies and procedures, bringing in best practices from other companies and industries as necessary
  • Grow, lead, and mentor a team of Estimators through guidance, support, and training
  • Lead change management, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption
  • Assist the VP of Operations with company-wide initiatives, including quarterly and annual planning

  • Strong understanding of financial fundamentals, including budgeting, revenue recognition, and how your team’s activities tie to our Annual Operating Plan
  • Eagerness to foster and grow a team with a willingness to handle escalations
  • Team player with a strong desire to help reinforce and improve internal processes
  • Hands-on work style with the ability to collaborate and prioritize (constantly looking for how things can be done more simply or automated)
  • Receptive to feedback, with the willingness to learn and embrace continuous improvement
  • Creative problem-solving and multi-tasking skills to fluidly and effectively find answers to complex issues — find a way!
  • Successful experience in mentoring and coaching your team to grow in the organization
  • Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of experience in a management role and with Estimating or Financial responsibilities


$125,000 - $147,000 a year

There may be future opportunities for pay progression based on continued strong performance in the role.
