Oversees a comprehensive preventive maintenance program including the repair of failing equipment, record keeping, inventory and ordering of parts and supplies. Communicates with Director of Golf Course and Grounds Maintenance, Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Golf Course Superintendent regarding condition of equipment and needed repairs.
Essential Functions
Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipment.
Prioritizes tasks. Instructs and trains GCM and Grounds workers in preventive maintenance techniques, cleaning and proper operation of equipment.
Creates a preventive maintenance program within budget. Purchases repair/replacement parts. Keeps accurate records. Seeks guidance on large purchase items.
Works closely with equipment and supply vendors, stays current on innovative products, costs and availability.
Daily communication with Director of Golf Course and Grounds Maintenance, Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Golf Course Superintendent on as to equipment needs for the following day. Presets equipment as needed.
Available for on course emergency repairs. Shop area maintenance.
Responsible for maintaining a clean, neat and safe shop area.

Assists in other departments and performs additional related duties as required.
Understands and follows policies and procedures of the department and The Ford Field and River Club overall.
Direct Reports
The Head Equipment Manager works directly with the Golf Superintendent and Grounds Superintendent and manages up to two technicians- directing their work.
Knowledge, Skills And Qualifiations
Working knowledge of light/heavy maintenance and automotive equipment and skill using a variety of equipment repair tools.
Theory, care and operation of internal combustion engines and mowing equipment.
Safety and hazard precaution awareness.
Diagnostic ability.
Effective communication and record keeping abilities.
Knowledge of and/or ability to play the game of golf and understand how performance affects the playing conditions of the golf course.
Requires a valid driver’s license.
Physical Demands
Standing, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling. Lifts 50 pounds occasionally up to 75 pounds. Ability to operate light and heavy machinery. Vision must be correctable to read and write. Hearing must be sufficient to understand conversation on the telephone in a noisy environment. Must have hand usage to maintain and repair equipment and to complete clerical tasks. Some irregular hours. Ability to work in various weather conditions.
