Vogel is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Clinician to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Mental Health, you will work collaboratively with the social work team, child play therapists, early childhood development team, and parents to deliver our mental health program for families. The primary objective is to address the effects of homelessness and other traumatic events through therapeutic intervention. In this role, you will provide clients with a safe space to process their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, and equip them with tools to navigate various life challenges. This is a full-time, exempt, on-site role with compensation ranging from $55,000 to $65,000 per year, depending on experience.

Vogel is a well-established nonprofit organization located in Dallas with a history spanning over 36 years. Our core mission is centered around providing exceptional care and early childhood education for young children from homeless and domestic abuse shelters, all within our NAEYC accredited child care facility. Our innovative approach works to support both children and their parents through a two-generation strategy, offering resources that set families on a path toward a brighter future.

What you’ll do

  • Conduct assessments to develop mental health intervention plans.
  • Provide trauma-specific interventions.
  • Facilitate weekly therapeutic sessions.
  • Collaborate with team members to integrate assessments and interventions into comprehensive client plans.
  • Refer clients for further mental health consultation or community resources as needed.
  • Provide crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Offer education, guidance, and support to families.
  • Prepare and deliver oral and written case presentations to the team.
  • Ensure timely documentation of clinical assessments, sessions, treatment goals, progress, and discharge summaries.
  • Maintain records in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to organizational policies.
  • Participate in program, committee, and staff meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


What Will Make You Successful In This Role (skills)

  • Master’s degree in counseling, education, social work, or a related field with experience working with parents and children impacted by trauma.
  • Relevant licenses (one of the following):
    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
    • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
    • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
    • Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in providing trauma-informed clinical services to young children and their families.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking is a plus.
  • Effective counseling skills.
  • Excellent clinical skills in developing strategic care plans.
  • Compassion and patience to work with adults and adolescents affected by trauma.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to listen and understand clients' emotions and challenges.
  • Calm and efficient mediation skills.
  • Flexibility to work between 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM to accommodate parent meetings.
