Repertoire Immune Medicines

Senior Research Associate, Molecular Biology

Platform & Target Discovery and Validation

Company Overview

Repertoire Immune Medicines is a biotechnology company working to unlock and direct the remarkable power of the human immune system to treat cancer, autoimmune disease and infectious disease. The company was founded by Flagship Pioneering on the belief that understanding the repertoire of T cell receptor (TCR)-antigen immune synapses that maintain health and drive disease represents one of the greatest opportunities for innovation in medical science. Repertoire scientists created and developed the DECODETM platform, which allows in-depth characterization of TCR-antigen pairs, and the ability to deploy this information in the form of novel targeted immune medicines to fundamentally reprogram the immune system to kill tumors or induce immune homeostasis.

From its sites in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Zurich, Switzerland, Repertoire’s team is creating a new pipeline of therapeutic immune medicines enabled from its DECODE discovery platform. Repertoire is currently using its proprietary platform to discover novel epitopes and TCRs from patients with autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes and multiple sclerosis, creating programmable tolerizing mRNA vaccines to restore immune homeostasis in these indications. In oncology, Repertoire’s decoding of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes and the antigens they target is enabling development of TCR bispecific therapies and mRNA cancer vaccines to treat solid tumors.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Research Associate in the field of NGS and cell biology to join our Repertoire lab team. This individual will assist in the development, optimization, and validation of new or established assays to characterize T-cells in various conditions. We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly collaborative environment. This Senior Research Associate will work as part of a cross-functional team of immunologists, molecular biologists, and protein scientists to successfully develop and perform robust assays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine molecular biology methodologies such as, but not limited to, nucleic acid extraction, library preparation for sequencing and qPCR.
  • Culture and expand cell lines and perform in-vitro assays.
  • Image and detect protein and RNA molecules in tissues and cells using various imaging systems.
  • Participate or lead the development of new assays or optimize pre-existing methodologies.
  • Develop and write protocols for assays.
  • Analyze data and present key findings to internal stakeholders.
  • Provide technical input and training to more junior team members.
  • Execute and troubleshoot instrumentation, experiments, and data analysis.
  • Work closely with team members to design and perform experiments.
  • Report regularly on project progress.
  • Present data effectively at internal group or project team meetings.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred in Genetics, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or related discipline.
  • Strong background in molecular biology and associated general laboratory techniques (PCR, qPCR, nucleic acid purification, NGS library preparation).
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and familiarity with protein related assays (Western blotting, ELISA, co-culture, flow cytometry) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with molecular detection techniques such as immunofluorescence and in-situ hybridization. Exposure to microscopy imaging systems is a plus.
  • Awareness of bioinformatics pipelines and sequencing metrics is desired.
  • Impeccable documentation practices and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Repertoire is committed towards social responsibility and developing an inclusive culture. Much as the power of the immune system lies in the diversity of T and B cells, our work requires the creativity and ingenuity of a diverse workforce. We believe in actively pursuing equity in all facets of the work experience at Repertoire. We will continue to educate ourselves about the inequities and barriers present in our society and take action as a company where we can make a difference.
