After months of hard work, tons of input, rounds of testing and collaboration, my website, www.deborahkearns.com, is officially live! 🎉🎉🎉 The site has been a labor of love while balancing a busy client workload, and I'm so glad to have it out in the world at long last. The blog and newsletter are still a work in progress, though, so stay tuned! If you're new here, let me reintroduce myself... 👋 My name is Deborah (Debbie works, too), and editing, writing and content strategy are my JAM. 📝 I've been a journalist, editor and communicator for two decades, specializing in personal finance, real estate and mortgages for 15 of those years. I write long-form articles, SEO content, in-depth features, people profiles and narrative journalism. I also ghostwrite executive thought leadership content. 🤓 I'm a shameless housing and money nerd. When it comes to real estate and mortgages, I know the players, the key issues, the lingo and the pain points of consumers and industry professionals inside and out. 🎆 I'm laser-focused on helping businesses and top-tier publications dominate the personal finance, real estate and mortgage content spaces while delighting and educating audiences. 👯♀️ I'm all about clear communication. I ask a lot of questions to understand pain points and content/comms needs. This means I don't leave room for doubt or confusion in how we'll work together and what I deliver. Clarity and transparency make everyone happy and can save time. 💡 In addition to the testimonials on my site, I have nearly 40 recommendations from past colleagues, supervisors and freelance clients on LinkedIn. So don't take my word for it; see what they have to say about working with me. (And thanks to those of you who believe in me/my work enough to leave a kind word.) 🚔 My first job in journalism was as a night cops and courts reporter at a mid-sized daily. I also wrote obits. 🏕 I'm a native Floridian, but I've called Colorado home for 17 years. We're obsessed with our adopted state and love it here. While you won't see me shredding on the mountain, I do love a good glamping trip ...in a cabin ...with a bed ...and access to a shower. 🐶 My four-legged co-worker is Gizmo, a part-Chihuahua, part-Catahoula leopard dog. He's cute, but a little crazy. I also love horses but they're $$$ so I settle for the occasional trail ride. 🙏 Know of any companies or publications needing a top-notch freelance editor or writer? The best compliment you can pay is a referral. I'm grateful for other freelancers and past colleagues who've put my name forth for opportunities over the years. You are absolute gems in my book! 🤝 Finally, I love connecting with and learning from others, so don't be shy about hitting that Connect request button. And if I can ever help YOU with leads, advice or reassurance (because, let's be honest, freelancing is hard, y'all), drop me a DM or let's schedule a coffee chat!
Megan Braden-Perry - Thanks for the repost! 😁
Huge thanks to Indrajit Ghosh and his team at Fortmindz for the wonderful web design and logo work. And sincerest thanks to From the Hip Photo for the personal branding photography. 🙏
So excited for you.
Forget the website, your purple power suit is EVERYTHING 💜
The website is immaculate 💅 💅 💅 . Well polished and I see the color palette throughout.
Very nice site. Great job on that.
Your writing is fantastic, covering everything from website news 📰 to my four-legged co-founder Gizmo.🐾
Congrats! And that suit is 🔥
Congratulations Deborah Kearns for creating such a stunning website with a homepage that tells it all.
