Detroit Lions’ 2024 regular-season opponents officially set

DETROIT -- The Detroit Lions aren’t done yet. They’ll host the Los Angeles Rams next Sunday night in the wild-card round from Ford Field.

But before the Lions and the football world dive headfirst into the postseason, let’s look ahead now that the team’s 2024 regular season opponents are set.

And while we won’t know the order or dates on these games for another couple of months, it’s a new world for the reigning NFC North champions. The Lions will play the first-place teams from the NFC East (Dallas Cowboys), NFC South (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and AFC East (Buffalo Bills) amid next year’s slate of opponents.

In addition to the intra-division slate and those first-place matchups, the Lions will also face each franchise from the NFC West and AFC South in the 2024-25 campaign. We also know that the Lions will have nine home games and eight away from home next year, with that rotating every year with the new 17-game schedule.

It’s also worth noting that the Lions are due for an international game before too long. The NFL will host six international games next season, with the United Kingdom (four), Germany (one) and Brazil (one) getting in on the fun. The Lions could lose one of those nine games from Ford Field due to the increasing international slate and staying stateside since 2015.
