High Efficient Electric Water Pumps are a Key Factor in the Agricultural Sector Sunshine and warm weather are the perfect conditions to stay outside. But when it comes to agriculture, and thus the way to create our daily food, long-lasting hot and dry periods lead to partial or even total crop losses. Artificial lakes are a good way to store rainwater during wet seasons and to distribute it onto the fields when required. Easy to be done in mountainous areas, where simple water channels can be used. In plain countries, technical support is required for field watering. In the early days, windmills and later diesel engines drove the pumps. Nowadays, electric motors do the job. A perfect combination is electric pumps together with photovoltaic (PV) panels: Watering is needed when the sun is burning, and exactly then the PV panels create free energy. The electronic control of these pumps is a prerequisite for high motor efficiency and reliability, minimizing downtime and maintenance, and energy consumption. The fast-switching IGBTs DIW040F135 by Diotec play an essential role in the drive inverter of these pumps. Its low switching times predestine them for use in high-speed switching applications like this. They come in a TO-247 package for easy heatsink assembly and a low operating temperature.
