A Look Back at Weddings in 2022

We went into 2022 with the knowledge that the 12 months ahead would be filled with more weddings than any other calendar year before—the wedding boom was officially upon us, and the ceremonies and receptions that would take place (all 2.5 million of them, according to NBC) were poised to be some of the most exciting to date. They did not disappoint. Stunning design, amazing fashion, and, of course, lots of love were at the heart of these events, and here at Brides, it was incredibly exciting to share so many of these special celebrations with our readers. Receiving thousands of wedding submissions from couples, planners, and photographers gave us the unique opportunity to see what these festivities were really like. Our biggest takeaway? Everyone made their wedding their own. Some couples brought hundreds together over long weekends in international destinations. Others planned intimate celebrations near home and invited just a few guests. Brides donned dresses in all sorts of colors and often had more than one outfit to wear throughout the day. Some grooms kept it classic in suits or tuxedos, while others got creative with their attire and carried bouquets. While some trends stood out, the biggest current running through each wedding this year was the absolute joy people felt to be with their nearest and dearest, celebrating the future of two people joining in marriage.

We published 185 real weddings in 2022, and our team was thrilled to be able to share real couples' love stories, the amazing craftsmanship vendors brought to each celebration, and the 5,500+ beautiful images captured by photographers that future brides and grooms can look to when seeking their own big-day inspiration.
