The 2024 Enterprising Women Conference took place April 7–9 in Orlando, Florida. Hosted at the Caribe Royale Hotel, this annual event acknowledges and celebrates top women entrepreneurs. Women from across industries, and the world, gather to exchange ideas, foster new relationships and uplift each other over the two-day event. The conference also recognizes top women entrepreneurs in categories that range from $1 million to over $100 million in annual revenues.
From its initial inception as a magazine publication in May of 2000, Monica Smiley, the founder and editor of Enterprising Women (EW), has reached a million women entrepreneurs in 185 countries around the globe. Under Smiley’s leadership, Enterprising Women has evolved and scaled to encompass a vast network of diverse entrepreneurial women. It now boasts a national conference, foundation, over 17 partner organizations and an advisory board of both women and men, dedicated to highlighting both the critical issues pertaining to the women-owned business community as well as their successes in entrepreneurship and business careers.
Jenny Jing Zhu, founder of Triangle Home Fashion | Lush Decor Home, sits as one of the many accomplished women that comprise this select group on the Enterprising Women Advisory Board. An award-winning entrepreneur, author and a 2021 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year recipient from EW, Zhu’s unique story serves as an inspiration for many. As a Chinese immigrant from a small village, she transitioned from operating a local dry-cleaning business, to attending and graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Zhu began her journey as a solopreneur while also balancing her duties as a single mother with a one-year-old baby. However, Zhu successfully pursued her dream of launching a creative, luxury home-decor company that she then scaled to a nine-figure business.
Smiley’s initial vision for Enterprising Women magazine created a space for entrepreneurs like Jenny Jing Zhu to be celebrated and supported by a peer network. An added advantage is that the Enterprising Women Conference has created a place for these powerful women business leaders to continue to motivate, coach, lead and inspire one another as well as the broader business community.
