I became a Certified Personal Finance Counselor through #Fincert. 🤑 The CPFC® program covers counseling techniques and fundamentals of personal finance management. I felt solid in my knowledge of the latter — I worked at a personal finance media startup for three and a half years and have been a freelance personal finance writer in the five years since — and was interested in diving into the former. Because personal finance is just that. *Personal*. I wanted to learn more about the behavioral aspects of money and how to effectively communicate with others about it. After all, there's a wide range of lived experiences and money beliefs out there. And speaking to people as a monolith about money and the ABCs of budgeting falls short if you don't get to know the person and their individual situation. So, what will I do with this certificate? To be honest — TBD! In the meantime, if anyone is curious about the program, feel free to get in touch with me. Also, a special thanks to Dana Miranda, CEPF® for being a trusted resource in this space and putting the CPFC cert on the map for me. 😊
Well done, Kath! Can’t wait to see what the future holds!
