We are thankful for the amazing change-agents like Ricky Crawford who put their creativity and compassion together to help our neighbors experiencing homelessness.
With the help of a student-led engineer team from Georgia Tech, Atlanta native Ricky Crawford created a mobile laundry bus to meet the needs of the unhoused community. His bus provides access to essential services like laundry, health checks and a hot shower. His creativity and commitment embodies the spirit of our work. Atlanta Civic Circle shared earlier this week our perspective on today’s SCOTUS decision in the City of Grants Pass, Oregon v. Johnson. Our team at Partners for Home has been at the forefront of addressing homelessness in Atlanta. We cannot use this ruling as an excuse to shift the burden of this human problem onto law enforcement. Criminalization is not effective in reducing homelessness, rather it prolongs, and complicates the evidenced-based process of rehousing people and further traumatizes them. Fortunately, our community and Mayor are committed to creating a crisis response system that is resourced to develop housing solutions and to rehouse people who are homeless at the pace and scale we need to solve this critical issue. Homelessness is not a crime and we must continue to invest in housing solutions with the right complement of supportive services that end, rather than manage, a person’s homelessness. Discover how Partners for Home and our community are making strides toward ending homelessness. SCOTUS ruling on criminalizing homelessness may not impact Atlanta's unhoused population. The presidential election could.

Our efforts to support our neighbors experiencing homelessness continue. Partners For HOME has successfully housed 2,000 households in 2023, marking the highest annual rehousing rate to date. Since 2016, we have housed 12,500 neighbors, demonstrating significant progress in our efforts to reduce homelessness and provide stable housing solutions. However, the challenge persists as more individuals face homelessness. We are seeing new faces every day and many are struggling to make ends meet. As Mayor Andre Dickens says, Atlanta is a group project, and it's up to all of us, both in the City of Atlanta and the region, to support those experiencing homelessness. Together with Mayor Dickens and our dedicated Continuum of Care partners, we are committed to housing our neighbors and nurturing communities. Watch the video to see our collaborative efforts in action. 📸 Witness the power of unity and compassion in making a difference! #CommunitySupport #PartnersForHome #EndHomelessness #TogetherWeCan #HomeForEveryone #AtlantaStrong
