Grateful to be in our London office today for productive meetings. I had opportunities to meet with colleagues at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office – Phil Stevens, Director for International Finance, and Chris Bold, Deputy Director for International Financial Institutions – and then with Chief Impact Officer Maria Smith and Global Affairs Advisor Amar Mistry at British International Investment. In these fruitful exchanges, we explored further ways to deepen our collaboration to deliver sustainable and inclusive development impact that will make a difference in the lives of families and communities, including by mobilizing private capital. We are proud to announce that we have partnered with the IFC - International Finance Corporation on a risk-sharing facility of up to €215m. The new facility will support the ongoing flow of trade in Africa by providing vital financing to importers and exporters of essential goods, with a particular focus on small, fragile, and conflict-affected states throughout the continent.   Commenting on the new facility, Borislav Ivanov-Blankenburg, our Global Head of Documentary Trade Finance, said: “IFC’s risk participation with Deutsche Bank leverages our issuing bank network to enable trade flows in Africa with our Global Hausbank clients and echoes a shared commitment to ongoing economic growth in emerging markets.”   We would like to extend our thanks to Mohamed Gouled, IFC Vice President for Industries, Nathalie Louat, IFC’s Global Director, Trade and Supply Chain Finance and the rest of the team at the IFC for their great collaboration on the initiative. I am proud to announce that IFC - International Finance Corporation, in partnership with Asian Development Bank (ADB), has taken an important step forward in our efforts to confront the challenge of #climate change by jointly publishing a Reference Note (https://lnkd.in/e3ZiQAz6) on #sustainable trade finance. We believe that creating standardized definitions and criteria for sustainable trade will help MDBs, commercial banks, traders, and producers collaborate to ensure that the necessary criteria are met to make sustainable trade truly #sustainable. A standardized approach is a necessary foundation as we grow this important aspect of our #trade finance program. IFC introduced the concept of Sustainable Trade in 2010 as an incentive for banks participating in our Global Trade Finance Program to support trade of equipment and raw materials that support climate change mitigation and resilience activities. Since then, IFC has supported more than $7 billion in climate trade deals and has also expanded its climate-smart initiative to other of its trade programs.
