Navigator, serving Kalamazoo Valley, Kellogg, Lake Michigan, Glenn Oaks and Jackson Community Colleges and Southwestern Michigan College

Terrance Shorter Jr. M.Ed, personally known as TeeJay, is the Michigan Reconnect Navigator for the southwest region including Kalamazoo Valley, Kellogg, Lake Michigan, Glenn Oaks and Jackson Community Colleges and Southwestern Michigan College. TeeJay is a two-time Laker Alumni from Grand Valley State University where he obtained a bachelor’s in Broadcasting/Communications and master’s in Higher Education for College Student Affairs and Leadership. During his time at Grand Valley, he worked with the Pathways to College Office under the Division of Inclusion and Equity. The mission of Pathways was to work with Grant and scholarship programs such as Gear-Up and Wade McCree, to enhance the matriculation to post-secondary education for urban youth in the Greater Grand Rapids area.

Being a first-generation college student and a father while in school, TeeJay is passionate about being helpful in the lives of his neighbors by sharing his story and helping Reconnectors write (rewrite) theirs. Ultimately, TeeJay wants to be an example of support and excellence for his daughter Zendaya to be proud of and learn from. He strives to be of service and impactful to those around him.
