NO HUNGRY SENIORS: When we announced our partnership with the City of L.A. to deliver meals to homebound seniors in need, more than 800 seniors flooded our website requesting to join the program. Many shared daunting economic, health, and transportation challenges making it hard to access food. Now, with a waitlist of more than 1400 seniors, funding for the program is slated to run out in August – unless the L.A. City Council takes action. Councilmember Heather Hutt has introduced a motion to extend funding for the Emergency Rapid Response Senior Meals Program. We urge the City Council to pass her motion so 5,800 vulnerable seniors can continue to receive weekly meal deliveries. Thank you Nathalie Basha at Spectrum News for bringing attention to this important issue and elevating the voice of senior Sheila Cage on why these meals are vital. Please watch and share the story, and contact your city councilmember to tell them no senior should go hungry! https://lnkd.in/g9JdXfZx Submit a public comment here: https://lnkd.in/g3s_C66x #NoHungrySeniors
Americans 65+ are expected to represent 22% of the population by 2040. That's roughly 73 million seniors. Over 77% of older adults prefer to age in place, requiring the community to work together to combat challenges such as social isolation, mobility, and food insecurity. YWCA San Gabriel Valley and The Loop Village have been creative partners in helping to ensure our older community members have nutritious food and community, in-person or virtual, when they need it. Many thanks to Amanda Starrantino and KCAL News for telling the story. #olderamericansmonth #seniormeals https://lnkd.in/g7cWM4ph

Revolution Foods has been proud to partner with the City of L.A. this year to deliver free meals to homebound seniors with the most significant economic and social needs. But with 1500 seniors still on a waitlist, funding for L.A.’s Rapid Response Senior Meal program runs out soon. We urge the City Council to renew funding for this critical program. And many thanks to Christian Galeno at Spectrum for highlighting the tremendous and growing need among Los Angeles seniors struggling with food insecurity. https://lnkd.in/gExfyY49 #seniormeals #losangeles #OlderAmericansMonth #RevolutionFoods #FeedingSeniors
As Older Americans Month gets underway, we are thrilled to announce a partnership with The Loop Village to offer San Gabriel Valley seniors a virtual community alongside Revolution Foods’ healthy grab-and-go meals. This new program, administered by the YWCA San Gabriel Valley, gives seniors 60 and over access to more than 120 live online classes and events through Loop as well as seven frozen take-home meals, available for pickup once a week at select senior centers. With this innovative model, seniors who have a hard time getting to senior centers daily for group meals can still enjoy senior meals at home without missing out on vital social activities. Revolution Foods is proud to join Loop and the YWCA of San Gabriel Valley to help stem food insecurity and social isolation among seniors. We hope more senior centers throughout Los Angeles County will replicate this amazing program! https://lnkd.in/gkexDgcK #OlderAmericansMonth #RevolutionFoods #theLoopVillage #FeedingSeniors

We all feel the impact of rising food costs, but seniors on a fixed income get hit the hardest. The Los Angeles Daily News covered our partnership with LA City's Rapid Response Senior Meal program. The Rev senior meal operation is serving over 100,000 meals per month and growing. As a community, we can ensure that seniors who are quietly aging in place, aren't overlooked. https://lnkd.in/eWbkRVbS #ladailynews #seniormeals #losangeles
